FOUR LAKES EXPLORATION
HOTEL TAWA REFUGIO DEL PUELO
The journey begins at Tawa, embarking on an astonishing exploration that will take us to the depths of the Puelo Valley, reaching its very source and passing through four spectacular lakes along the way.
The day starts early, crossing our jeep by ferry over the waters of Lake Tagua Tagua, then continuing along the road that runs alongside the Puelo River until reaching the Mapocho River area. At this point, we leave the four wheels behind and switch to a combination of trekking and boat navigation, traveling across three wonderful lakes and the trails connecting them: first Lake Azul, then Lake Las Rocas, and finally Lower Lake. We skirt this last one to reach the very border with Argentina, at the boundary marker, from which we can see the canyon separating Lake Puelo in Argentina from Lower Lake on the Chilean side. A unique place that marks the origin of the valley in which we are immersed.
From here, and once again by boat, we reach the other end of the lake to embark on one last hike to our jeep, which will be waiting to take us back to the Refugio, this time traveling by land along the Puelo River descent to Lake Tagua Tagua.
