PARQUE TAGUA TAGUA – LAGUNA ALERCES
HOTEL TAWA REFUGIO DEL PUELO
We depart from Tawa by boat toward Parque Tagua Tagua, a unique conservation area that hides some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Northern Patagonia. Spanning over 3,000 hectares, this park is a true gem for those who love nature and wild landscapes. The evergreen forest, water, and mountains interact here in an endless cycle of life, providing a home to ancient Alerce trees, Coihues, and Lichens, among others. It is also home to species such as the Pudú, Pumas, Monito del Monte, and the Quetru Duck.
The boat will drop us off at the park’s entrance, where we will begin our hike upstream through mountain landscapes and native forests. After about four hours of trekking, we will reach the famous Laguna Alerces, a place that holds a submerged Alerce forest. This is a unique spot to enjoy a well-deserved outdoor lunch, rest, and even take a refreshing swim in the cold waters of this mountain lagoon before returning along the same trail to the dock, where we will board the boat back to the warmth of Tawa.
Whether as part of our guided Tawa Exploration or a self-guided adventure, Parque Tagua Tagua and its hike to Laguna Alerces are must-sees in the depths of Puelo.
